LIFESIZE mermaids made of hundreds of pounds of concrete and steel sit in the Melbourne yard of their new owner, "Ed's Heads" sculptor Ed Volonino, weighing him down with unanswered questions. He bought them at a yard sale and is sure they're by the late Lewis Vandercar, who sculpted south Merritt Island's famous Dragon Point.

"I'm told they were part of a Neptune sculpture, a fountain at the Anchor Inn or Rusty Anchor in Melbourne Beach," said Ed. "When were these built? Does anybody have a photo of the fountain? Or information? Call me at 255-9835."
