First public announcement about Ed being on HGTV's new show "Offbeat America". Former customers donated their tikis to be used as props for the show.

HGTV to film local tiki artist

By Breuse Hickman — FLORIDA TODAY

A film crew from Home & Garden Television will be in Brevard County on June 18 and 19 to shadow tiki artist Ed Volonnino of Ed's Heads in Melbourne.

The crew will show Volonnino at work and gather footage of places around Brevard where his work is on display. He also is seeking tikis that he has made and donated over the years.

"I just want to borrow them for the two-taping," Volonnino said, adding he'd like to receive a variety of styles and sizes "that can be used as props for the background shots" at his home. "I'll even touch up (customer's tikis) as well — as an added incentive," he said.

Volonnino, who will pick up the tikis, can be contacted through his Web site at edsheadstikis.com or by phone at 255-9835. The deadline for the tiki roundup is June 15.

The show has yet to be named. HGTV plans to add the show to its full lineup.
